Selecting Photos to Edit

Additional Information

I ask my clients to participate in my creative process.

After your session, I will notify you when your proofs are available and where to access them.  Proofs are lower quality watermarked pictures of your session, with little to no editing completed (See the top picture above as an example).

I ask clients to review the proofs and select photos that they would like to purchase (post editing).

How do you indicate which photos you would like?

  • Every photo will have the file name displayed in the website I provide.  An example of a file name is:  DSC_4130.JPG
  • Please email me stating the name of the session, your name, and the list of file names you would like me to edit
  • Please include preferred picture dimensions (4x8, 5x7, 8x10 etc) - if for some reason these sizes will not work with the photo selection you have made, I will contact you to talk about options.

What is my criteria for selecting photos?

  • The level of focus in the shot
  • Composition - Liking the expression or position of the subject
  • Emotional attachment - how does the photo make me feel?

Things to remember when choosing the shot:

  • What you see is not always  exactly what you will get, unless you want minimalism in your editing.
  • I will be cropping the photos
  • I will be changing exposure etc as needed.
  • I may be adding artistic flair
  • I will be proofing the photos for blemishes etc.

I will tell you if a shot will not work and help you select an alternative.

If you decide you would rather I choose your photos, or provide input into the selection, I am more than happy to work with you.  My goal is for you to have the best experience and receive the best photos possible!
